The Kitchen Table Collective

The Kitchen Table Collective is a collaborative ceramics project led by artist Aliyah Hussain.

The first stage of the project invites collective members to take part in fortnightly make at home ceramics workshops. Free kits containing all tools, materials and instructions can be picked up from Bootle or Crosby Libraries. There will be three different sessions, all based around objects that we use when cooking, eating or growing food.

Collective members also have access to our Clay Hotline, where they can talk through what they are making, ask advise or simply have a chat.

Together we will make two sets of functional objects  – one for home, and one to be used in the libraries.

About Aliyah Hussain:

Aliyah Hussain’s practice approaches themes found within feminist science fiction literature, in particular the possibilities of co-sharing space in domestic or social settings. She works with abstract forms and uses these to construct narratives in order to explore different modes of communication and miscommunication. With a background in performance and an interest in process and material, her work moves across sound, ceramic sculpture, drawing and collage.
