the colour of pomegranates

We are working with Venus and the Red Cross to offer women learning English a space to practice their English speaking and listening skills with native speakers, through creative activity and conversation.

If you are learning English for the first time, or a fluent speaker who would like to learn about different cultures and languages and offer friendship and support to women who may be newly-arrived in the UK, you are invited to take part. Please get in touch so that we can let you know more about what is involved.

Creative sessions are led by a range of guest artists and creatives, as well as our artist-led team.

This programme follows the Xenia model of holding a space for exchange between women, and therefore is a women-only session to allow women from all cultural backgrounds to participate.  The library will remain open to all during the session. Young children and babies are always welcome. We can cover your travel expenses if you need support getting here and if you have any specific access needs to support taking part, please let us know.

If you want to find out more information about the group or become a volunteer, or have questions about access needs, please email our Programme Manager, Faye at faye@ruleofthrees.co.uk.

Candles can fill a room with scents, soft light and have a deeply soothing effect to help us relax and unwind.

On Saturday 18th March, artist Fauziya Johnson will join our Colour of Pomegranates group to lead a candle making session. During the session, we will talk about different scents; the memories and feelings they provoke in us.

Colour of Pomegranates is a safe space for women learning English for the first time to practice their English speaking and listening skills in an informal environment with fluent English speaking women.

We are actively seeking fluent speaking women to volunteer for our sessions. If you are a fluent English speaking women and would like to support other women in your community, make new friends and learn about new cultures and languages, we are looking for volunteers to join us every other Saturday to help supporting women who are learning English for the first time.

This is a women’s only group – children welcome.

Please email faye@ruleofthrees.co.uk here for more information, or visit our project page here. Please email to let us know about any access needs you have and how we can cater for them on the day, or if you have any general enquires.

Join us for a picnic to celebrate our last session before we take a little break from Colour of Pomegranates for over the Summer.

Women and children are welcome to join us for lunch in the garden (in the event of bad weather, the session will be held inside), as we chat about plans for the future and hopes for our group.

If you would like to come, have questions about our group, or would like to discuss your access needs, and how we can meet them, please email faye@ruleofthrees.co.uk.

Artist Amina Atiq will join us for this month’s Colour of Pomegranates building on her project scouse pilgrimage which explores and celebrates freedom of movement.

Women will be invited to explore a journey, whether personal or physical, which they have had since moving to Liverpool, through poetry.

This will explore the information often lost in stories of migration of arrival, creating a new archive to document a collective history. Women will also leave with a tool kit for further poetry.

Colour of Pomegranates is a welcoming space for women learning English to practise their speaking and listening skills, with fluent speakers, through conversation and creative activities. The aim of the group is to develop friendships, create connections, and help foster support and solidarity between women in our neighbourhoods.

If you would like to volunteer or would like to be involved, please email hello@atthelibrary.co.uk.
