tea by post: netherton blend
You are invited to Netherton Library for a restful season of tea-making. This summer we will be planting and growing herbs for tea in the raised beds at the library, and creating a special library tea blend to be harvested in the autumn.
We will begin slowly – to see what is already growing, what we can contribute and what we can harvest. Alongside gentle gardening and growing, we will learn about the health benefits of herbs and wild plants with herbalist Sue Sprung, encourage our observation through drawing, and enjoy a bespoke tea blend in early Autumn.
tea by post is a social art project by artist Brenda Kearney, inviting collaboration with the natural environments in which we live. It was motivated by the Covid-19 pandemic, as a way to reconnect and build community in challenging times. It brings together people, plants and place, as a way to nurture ourselves and our gardens.
All events will be held at Netherton Library. Please book for all events via Eventbrite or let a librarian know you would like to come along.
a herbal walk with sue sprung
Tuesday 12th July | Netherton Library | 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
We’ll meet in the library garden to take a look at what herbs and wild plants are already growing in the raised beds, and to think about what we might like to grow. As we walk from the garden and along the canal, herbalist Sue Sprung will talk us through the health benefits of herbs and wild plants which are already growing near Netherton Library. We’ll stop along the way to take notes and draw what we find. We’ll return to the library garden to taste a variety of herbal teas together.
