Join us for Stitch Club this month to start making scatter cushion covers to be used in children’s sessions across our libraries.
We will use a combination of different stitching and embroidery techniques to decorate the covers in this project which will span the next two sessions.
All abilities are welcome, everybody will be given guidance and materials will be provided. The sessions are led by textile artist Emma Summerscales.
Emma is a fashion designer and textile artist based in Liverpool 8, whose work in sustainable design builds on a lifelong practice collecting and customizing secondhand clothes, exploring the emotional value of clothes brought about by their history, and the act of making or mending them. All her work is underpinned by an exploration of zero-waste, deconstructing existing garments or a whole piece of cloth and the damage of worn clothes to guide the formation of new ideas, textures, and patterns using visible mending techniques such as darning and Japanese boro and sashiko.
If you’re interested in joining us you can speak to a librarian, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
All the sessions are free and everybody is welcome.
